Sunder Media, at the moment, is completely staffed by part-time employees. We are all established experts in various fields and Sunder Media provides a means to tackle projects that are too risky or unique for a traditional company to tackle. It provides a way to organize a diverse group of consultants in to teams uniquely suited for each project.
There are some downsides to running a company like Sunder. We work odd hours and we're fairly decentralized. However, this model allows us to work with a diverse and passionate group of people and enables us to provide uniquely tailored solutions for a much lower cost than larger specialized companies.
In short, yes. Most of the people in technology, work because they are passionate about technology. Most 9-5 jobs rarely fulfill this passion completely. Sunder provides a way to explore new technolgies and make some money doing it.
Sunder Media started as side project. We had lots of various projects and tools and Sunder became the public facing identity of Kelley and Ian's random projects. Over the year's it evolved into a consulting company that specialized in providing programming and design services for web agencies.
While working with various agencies around New England we soon realized how many projects these agencies end up turning away. Some projects are too risky technically, some clients didn't have the money for the site they needed, and many problems just can't be solved with a website. In short, the breadth of technical problems faced by many companies goes beyond what a traditional web agency can provide.
Our team varies from project to project. We work with award-winning designers, social media experts, dedicated programmers and database gurus with enterprise experience. Every member of our team has several years of experience in their field and in most cases is a respected member and leader within the various tech communities of New England. We are the Alpha Geeks in our areas of expertise.
